The voice of art

When Lana Del Rey dropped her latest album titled "Lust for life", just 5 years after the album which launched her into stardom "Born to die". Notice the change of heart in the two albums? Growth and reflection, and while the artists' authenticity came into question by the public again, she famously stated that she has the right to grow as an artist and a human as much as any other person. Stephen king once famously said:

"No-one can tell what goes on in between the person you are and the person you become; no-one can graph that blue an lonely part of hell. You either come out the other side, or you dont."

That being said, Del Rey infamously stated that she is a "Selfish artist", referring to the albums born to die and all that followed up to Lust for life, that they were entirely made for her, her own healing, enjoyment and reflection however regarding the latest one, in which she outspokenly addresses her thoughts on a post-Trump America she said: " This one is for you, this one, is for the kids" When questioned on the vividly opinionated tone of voice she used in songs featured in the album which included titles like : "When the world was at war and we kept dancing" and "God bless America and all the beautiful women in it", the singer revealed that she believes it to be an artists responsibility to reflect the times they live in, in order to school and guide generations to come.

Take it from an artist who once referred to her work as "Selfish" here is the point made that art can be much beyond a reflection on personal experiences, opinions, memories and aspirations but rather a much wider, communal experience which continues to live on and inspire much after the artist's passing.

The visuals below were created in that exact light, deeply inspired by artists like Banksy and Basquiat who never hesitated in speaking the minds. These were based on recent events regarding gun violence surrounding children in the U.S.A as to which the cherubs act as a metaphor to the children directly; as well as to innocence and purity lost and slaughtered.
