PYNK

During the patient wait leading up to Janelle Monae's LP release titled "Dirty Computer", she blessed us and made the world do a double take when she dropped her single Pink featuring Grimes. What caught the publics attention past the witty lyricism and tongue-in-cheek innuendos, are of course the now infamous " Vagina trousers"

Designer Duran Lantink is the man behind these headliners who revealed in an interview with NME that the only brief he had on this project was in fact "Vaginas".

So if the title of the single alongside the extravagant vagina trousers didn't quite get the message across, this song is in fact about vaginas. This soon to become feminine anthem is everything you ever wished it was, It successfully encapsulates the pop artists essence and attitude through celebrating and empowering women and keeping it all very fun and very Pynk.

"Pink like the lips around your,

maybePink like the skin that's under,

babyPink where it's deepest inside,

crazyPink beyond forest and thighs"

Wit and humour run throughout the whole song and video, from the title and word play on "pink" to the very last kitten being stroked. "PYNK" smartly substitutes the "I" in pink to a "Y" which in shape indirectly connotes a woman's, well you get it.

The catchy tune and unforgettable video have set up the highest expectations for Monae's forthcoming LP which she described as "Vulnerable" and we can't wait to see just how much more vulnerable she can get.
