A child of the Jago

Ever wondered what would have happened to the whimsical world of Wonderland if it didn't have a happy ending? If it eroded from the depths of the rabbit hole and materialised in a steampunk dystopian future, where the hare and the hatter couldn't have afternoon tea anymore, where folk were getting by through jobs which barely met basic needs and thus in desperation they all ran away with the Circus.

Metaphorically, Ofcourse these are some connotations which can be used to describe the Fashion Label which, in a self explanatory manner took inspiration from Arthur Morrison’s book titled exactly "A child of the Jago" first published in 1896. Joe Corré is the founder and creator of the brand first opening in 2008 and also the son of the infamous Vivienne Westwood which, comes as no surprise. Joes aesthetic is very much reminiscent of a time in England when you could determine a persons social standing just on the way they were dressed, a subtle yet concrete reminder of the power fashion holds on identity. Following in his mothers activist footsteps, he sticks to his "anti-brand" philosophy combating fast fashion and the "pollution it causes our environment and our minds".

With just two stores located on either western and eastern ends of London tucked neatly away in pockets of the streets they build on the idea of "anti- fast fashion" guaranteeing quality whilst also keeping their unique aesthetic and story intact.
